Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Manual lymph drainage is a gentle manual treatment technique, based on the four basic Vodder strokes. This is used to stimulate lymph flow to help with various issues, whether due to surgery, trauma, radiation, or auto immune diseases. Further education is ongoing to specialize in the management of post plastic surgery procedures. Iā€™m completely certified in full body MLD, and have taken classes specializing in post plastic surgery operations. I have been certified in oncology massage, which at time will require MLD techniques as well to make the client most comfortable during their recovery.

This technique is listed separately from other massage techniques because although massage therapists can be certified in this modality, it is not considered massage. The studies done on this technique (when performed correctly) are quite impressive. It improves healing time, has been shown to decrease pain, and improves overall recovery time after surgery. More and more doctors are becoming aware of the remarkable results their patients have gotten using MLD in conjunction with their after care requirements. Working with your doctor to determine the best options for you, we can come up with a workable treatment plan. As soon as 48 hours post-op you can start treatment. The first week or two I would suggest in home treatments to keep you as comfortable as possible. They can be done wherever you have set up your recovery area. The sooner you start treatment after surgery, the better. It makes a big difference in swelling as well as scar formation when started within a few days.

Pricing for MLD is $110 in my office, and $140 if I am coming to you. Treatment plans vary, and depend on how many sessions will be in house.
